WHO DO YOU REPRESENT?

 We live in a world filled with diverse cultures and traditions, each one unique and special in its own way. We see these differences in the music that moves us, the clothes we wear, the food we eat, the languages we speak, and the rituals that shape our lives. On Heritage Day, people come together to celebrate their heritage, honoring the customs and traditions that make them who they are .

Growing up in Khayakhulu village, nestled in the heart of North West Province, South Africa, with the AmaHlubi tribe, I've seen firsthand the beauty of cultural heritage. Our village has a rich history, dating back to 1924 when 19 families from Eastern Cape settled on Rhenosterboom farm, later renamed Khayakhulu. We celebrate our arrival and heritage with the vibrant Isikhumbuzo saMahlubi festival, a time of music, dance, and feasting.

As followers of Christ, we're called to something greater – to live like Jesus, to love like Jesus, and to serve like Jesus. We should speak words that uplift and encourage, and act with kindness, compassion, and integrity. Our lives should reflect God's love, bringing glory to Him in all we do. We're not just representatives of our earthly heritage, but ambassadors of God's kingdom, called to spread hope and redemption wherever we go.

‭‭In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 (NIV‬‬) 

Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.1 John 2:6 (NIV‬‬) 

‭‭Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. [10] Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. [11] Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Romans 12:9-11 (NIV‬‬) 

When we know who we are in Christ, we can live with purpose and confidence. We're part of a bigger story, one that's been unfolding for centuries. Let's live lives that honor God, speaking words that help others, and doing things that show God's love. As it says, "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments." Let's love God and live accordingly, with our actions and words reflecting our love for Him .

‭‭“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:14 (NIV‬‬) 

But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him:  ‭‭1 John 2:5 (NIV‬‬) 

Let's strive to be more like Jesus, loving God and loving people, and letting our actions speak louder than our words. May our communities be blessed by our presence, and may we be agents of change, spreading hope and redemption wherever we go.

‭‭The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”Mark 12:31 (NIV‬‬)

‭‭Do to others as you would have them do to you. [32]  “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. [33] And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. Luke 6:31-33 (NIV‬‬) 

‭‭Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. [10] Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:9-10 (NIV‬‬)
